Dear all,
this is is my first post ever! So I hope it works!! I’ve been looking at options for when Gary and Anthea come over late November/early December. I don’t think Great Barrier Island is going to work. Options for accommodation are very limited and I think it could all get a bit costly and difficult. So what I am proposing is the lower part of the Coromandel Peninsular. It’s a gold mining area, still, and there are some great walks along the river (we could even bike along parts of the bike trail). Travelling between Karangahake Gorge, where I propose we base ourselves, and Waihi township is abou 15-20 minutes in a car. Waihi Beach is about 20 minutes from Waihi township.
I have attached a potential accommodation: https://www.bookabach.co.nz/baches-and-holiday-homes/search/shortlistId/901920. (Copy his into your browser) As you might imagine there are not very many options with 4 bedrooms!i I’m in the process of extinguish a quote from them.
i would collect you all from the airport and we would drive directly to Waihi area … About an hour.
I can send lots moe information but let me know what your initial thoughts/questions are … And have a bit of a Google!
